I first began watching Man from U.N.C.L.E. because I heard that it was the basis for Get Smart, my favourite spy show ever. I adored Max, 99, the Chief...so I was curious to see how MfU stacked up. ![]() Webwatch (7th Oct 2005): Taliesin's site is now The Depot. Check out the *big* slash fanfic section for many MfU stories that were previously published in zines. Sizzling PWP, action/adventure, humour, crazy magical AUs...Taliesin does it all! If you'd like the nitty gritty of a particular MfU ep, check out the MfU Writers' Episode Guide for detailed synopses. 58 eps done so far, and hopefully more to come. There's also a selection of screencaps! Lionheart have received a Cease and Desist letter from Warner Bros for zines in several fandoms, including MfU. Several zines will be going out of print. I've listed these changes on the MfU slash zine list. Looking for songvids?? There's a list of them linked here via muncle LJ. I'm currently playing Bear's Everybody Wants to Rule the World by Tears for Fears again and again. Loved the song, love the vid...it's great fun. There's also a multifandom vid I adore with a cute MfU segment near the start: Laura Shapiro's Wouldn't it be Nice by The Beach Boys. Email her for information on downloading her vids: laura @ humandesign.com (remove spaces). Thanks to Tsukichan for letting me borrow her cute graphic! My money is on Illya, because I hated how he got beaten up more than Napoleon. Go, Illya, goooo! Chiharu has done some gorgeous Solo-centric line-art: NS opening Channel D, Napoleon, and dual portraits of NS and IK (need Javascript to view).
Spatula Productions are selling DVDs of their songvids, including several slashy MfU ones. Karasu has created hilarious animated MfU icons/avatars. "You been out with a blond?" features caps from Minus X with a deliciously slashy twist. Kanji T does art to die for. This is my favourite: Who is Bottom?. Tiny-Uncles by Otomobill is a cute-as-a-button translated manga. NS and IK are miniaturised, and have a new mission as--wait for it!--rat-busters. Taken to the Cleaners is a MfU gen ezine with stories that have enough nice NS+IK moments to appeal to slashers as well. Barbana has finally put up a gallery of her artworks - Barbana Art!! Fascinating portraits, manips and sketches of original and fannish characters. Slight NS bias, but IK fans should check out the leonine Illya. Loebelclark.com is a personal fansite with a strong MfU bent. Check out the funny captioned photos, the NS and IK dolls, the screencaps, the fans dressing up as UNCLE characters. A fascinating glimpse into the fannish con experience. Elle Shukugawa's pretty TransFanFiction site has moved. Please update your bookmarks. And check out her art! A few faves: rubber ducky, between the sheets, asian taste. Partner Mine is a beautifully designed site that pimps the show's slash angle for all it's worth! There's recs, links, info on the series, with stories and images to come. If you're a slash fan and curious about the show, this site should be your first stop. The Museum of Broadcast Communications has some good background articles by C. Walker about Spy Programs and Man from UNCLE. If you're into other old shows, search their archives. Lileks.com pokes fun at retro art. One of the MfU Whitman comic books is displayed, plus a hilarious slashy picture, complete with comments. Mean, mean Illya! Check out the Institute of Good Cheer for more retro silliness. The Art of Art Frahm featuring women with falling underwear is a highlight. DMC Online have this intriguing photo of DMc and RV in 2001. Illya (not DMc) hosted Hullabaloo, a 60s music show. He did a hilarious intro rap (Agent double-o soul, baby!) that you can hear in the soundfiles section of DMC Fans Online. Or if your browser can play the file, you can hear the rap while browsing screencaps at I'm Crazy For You. Good campy fun. |
