I first began watching Man from U.N.C.L.E. because I heard that it was the basis for Get Smart, my favourite spy show ever. I adored Max, 99, the Chief...so I was curious to see how MfU stacked up.

So I watched. The plots weren't as tight. The dialogue wasn't laugh-out loud funny. But the characters were gorgeous. Too cool for words. They'd calmly put up with the silliness thrown at them by the scriptwriters then give each other knowing looks. It was as if they were way too clever for the material they had to work with.

I never thought of them as a slash couple until I discovered slash in 1998. But when my eyes were opened, I never looked back.
