1 May 2007 - I've received a request from the writer of The Heart of Stone Affair to alter her pseudonym to prevent search engine indexing. So I have done so, and altered the directory name as well. Please redirect old links. The artwork featuring her old pseudonym has not been altered. New readers, please note this discrepancy is deliberate and not an error.

22 January 2007 - I've been forced to delete all guestbooks because of the spam menace. Several Mb of ads have been left on the site despite our best efforts. It seems they are able to trick the server in revealing the name of the index file, then editing it as they please. I'm very sorry to all contributors about my inability to solve this problem - this was the last thing I expected when I installed them on the site.

30 January 2006 - The spammers were able to bypass the password! They enter entries by directly modifying the text file containing guestbook entries. Changing file permissions didn't stop them - they just changed the permissions to the way they wanted it. They effectively hacked into the server! Arrrgh!!

With Chris's help, we've worked out a new solution to this problem. All the text files now have nonsensical alphanumeric names. Without the name of the text file, the spammers are going to have trouble modifying the guestbook...I hope.

This is even more reason for contributors to post their works on multiple sites. At least if one site goes down, there will be other copies available online. This spam menace is much more insidious than it may appear. Any server could be a potential target.

28 January 2006 - The spambot nuisance continued - one week later, Pussy Cat received another ten pages of spam comments. Other guestbooks were being affected too. Chris proposed a Captcha test, in which reviewers must type a random set of letters from an image before they can write messages, but the server doesn't support GDlib. After much bickering, we found a good alternative: a password-protected 'Write Message' section. Even the newest MfU fan will be able to work out the password, but bots and human spammers should be thwarted...I hope. I'll keep checking on it over the next few weeks.

In case anyone wishes to edit comments on their guestbook, please note the following:
1. Editing only works in Internet Explorer.
2. You must open up the 'Write Message' section before the Administration link will work. So you'll have to enter two passwords - the one at the bottom of the page, then click on the Administration link to type in your own custom password.
I suspect no one does this - in any case, as webkeeper I'll take care of further spam on a semi-regular basis.

I've made the decision to remove all Nedstat counters from the ezine. Nedstat have introduced popup ads as part of their service, which is a big shame. Damn popup ads! Will look around for another ad-free alternative.

21 January 2006 - Did my best to clear the guestbooks of spam comments. Blondie's Pussy Cat was hard hit with twenty pages (not comments, pages!) of spam ads. It's extremely annoying to see the guestbooks misused like this :(

1 December 2005 - New stories and artworks now online! Check out two brand new stories by Nataliya, and previously published stories by Julia Justina, Kei and Jane Terry. Artworks are by Kei and Elle Shukugawa. Thanks to everyone for their contributions.

20 November 2005 - Removed teaser section. Added upcoming writers' emails to credits. Tweaking links to new stories and art. Awaiting story summaries. So much for getting the stories out in August! Hopefully five stories will go online in early-mid December. Three of these stories were previously published in zines/online, while the other two will be new.

3 August 2005 - We're in the process of formatting a few more stories for the ezine. Two are from zines, one is an online fic that's been re-worked, and there may be one more too. Maybe in another month or so, fingers crossed. This site still lives!

11 April 2005 - It is so incredibly nice to see that people are still visiting the site and leaving feedback! Thank you all so much - I'm just so sorry I've been slack in checking for feedback myself. With the guestbooks I've installed here, there is no automated 'review alert' - so if you would like to correspond with the writer/artist, send them an email. I do check the guestbooks on a periodic basis and pass on messages too, but an email will reach them more quickly.

Lionheart Distribution is no longer distributing MfU slash zines. Warner Bros, you have delayed the DVDs and now you clamp down on zines. You bad.

Just a reminder to writers and artists: you should feel free to redistribute your art and stories wherever you like - archives, personal sites, wherever. If you do put up a site of your own, let me know at lyrebird @ aithine.org and I'll link to it - it's always fun to explore new fan sites.

2 October 2004 - For some bizarre reason, I've just realised that some of the [Stage 2] stories have banners that do not blend with their respective backgrounds when viewed with IE6, yet they all look fine in Opera 7. Very, very curious. I didn't know colour management varied between browsers. Have done my best to correct this glitch.

Ghostie, Janet, Kei and YumYum deserve special mention for tireless commenting in the various guestbooks. Thank you so much, guys!

19 September 2004 - Incognito [Stage 2] is online. Some tweaking may be required. Apologies to Kei for putting up the old version of her art for Passing the Time earlier. This current version is the correct one! Thanks to Meris for pointing out some typos in [Stage 1].

Flora would love to get in contact with other German MfU fans. We know you're out there from the site hits!! Please email her at frau_flora @ web.de (remove spaces). Sensine is also keen to write to Scandinavian fans, especially those from Norway. Her email is sensin2 @ hotmail.com (remove spaces).

Thanks to *everyone* who has taken the time to comment on the ezine, whether it's been via email or one of the many guestbooks on the site. There seem to be some minor guestbook hiccups e.g. many are putting their name in the From entry, rather than their country of origin; comments for artists posted in story guestbooks. It's a confusing jumble...but hey, it's so nice to see so many comments! Enter whatever you want wherever you want - providing it's not a flame or an ad for penis enlargements, it will stay up there for all of us to read. Writers and artists aren't motivated solely by the desire to get feedback, but knowing that someone liked their stuff and *cared* enough to let them know can be a powerful boost to creativity.

15 September 2004 - Incognito [Stage 2] should be going up this weekend, all going well. I hope.

14 August 2004 - Corrections completed. Counters installed. Links completed. Incognito [Stage 1] is ready to go. Apparently some people have stumbled onto zine via updates page. Janet P, we're looking at you!

10 August 2004 - After much procrastination, Incognito [Stage 1] is online for testing.

24 January 2004 - A long time between updates. The deadline has now been pushed back to the end of Mar 2004. We have three meaty stories and a couple of shorter pieces. We also have a new editor: Di T. She has done so much to pimp the zine that she deserved an official position. If you'd like to send stories to her, then please email dinaht@btopenworld.com.

8 October 2003 - Nah.

7 October 2003 - Some writers have requested a deadline extension (already!) so it's now shifted to Feb 2004. Looking for more photo inspiration? SoloVision has some MfU photos that may help. Am thinking about offering MfU bookmarks to encourage more submissions. Will ponder this some more.

5 August 2003 - Thanks to Ronda, there are graphic guidelines. And we have one story! But the editors are working very slow because of RL.

10 July 2003 - website goes online. No graphics submission guidelines.
